Tim Lebo
I would like to introduce myself, my name is Tim Lebo and I have been working with the PGTCA for several years in various capacities. I am very proud to say that I have seen the PGTCA flourish over this period of time and am very excited about the future! With the infusion of the PGTCA and the Korean PGTCA, our rapid membership gain has heads spinning here at corporate headquarters! The staggering numbers of our constituency has brought me into the business environment as Director of the Coaches Division and lessened my fieldwork. Being in the teaching field for several years allows me to ask those pertinent questions and apply my personal experiences that I'm sure several of you out there have incurred.
My bio reads like a long list of things to do! I am forty years old and have two children, Kelcey, age 11, and Cody, age 15. Both are becoming avid golfers and can't get enough of the game! I have my BA in sports movement studies from Earlham College, and a Masters degree in special education from Ball State University. While in college, I participated at the varsity level in baseball, basketball, and tennis (note-golf was still my passion!). Following a brief stint in semi-pro baseball, coaching and teaching became my avocation.
At the secondary education level, I coached a variety of athletics…. football, basketball and baseball. I coached baseball for 18 years and have had the honor of coaching several major league prospects including ex-major-leaguer Barry Jones and 1997 #1 draft pick of the New York Yankees, Andy Brown. My winning percentage at this level was over 84% including national (USA Today) top ten rankings two consecutive years, 1997 and 1998. I am also proud to say that I was named "PGTCA Coach of the Year" for 1999 and 2000.
Coaching has always been a passion of mine and now with the knowledge and skill that I have gained through my membership with the PGTCA I am very confident as a professional instructor. I spent many hours struggling with the game of golf because "swing education" had eluded me. Then I happened to get reacquainted with Mitch Crum, our president, and the strides I made were unbelievable. His ability to relate proper mechanical and fundamental techniques was uncanny. I guarantee you will be in awe and satisfied with the nature of his unique program.
